Shop Small & Shop Local

Shop Small and Help Big

The nationally recognized Small Business Saturday tradition on November 27 is the perfect way to kick-off seasonal shopping while supporting the more than 2,000 local businesses throughout the community.

Historic Downtown Winter Garden will mark the occasion with a daylong outdoor sidewalk sale. Stroll the festive decorated brick-lined streets and enjoy special sales, in store promotions, a vast selection of seasonal merchandise, and more. In addition, many restaurants will offer seasonal menu items and specials on this day, and the expanded outdoor dining patios throughout downtown are perfect for taking a shopping break and enjoying the fall weather.

When shopping this holiday season and throughout the year, please think of supporting those small mom-and-pop businesses that make your community such a special place. When you shop small, you help big since more than two-thirds of every dollar spent at a locally owned business remains in Winter Garden to make the community stronger. Thank you for supporting and Living Local.

West Orange County at Work Exhibit

In West Orange County, work has taken many forms through the years: from picking oranges, running a railroad, working a cash register, or managing a business or hospital. All this labor has come together to create the town that we know and love today.

The West Orange County at Work exhibit tells the stories of the original pioneers; the citrus workers; and the people occupied in our modern, diversified economy; paying homage to all who worked in West Orange County.

Time to Reset Your Irrigation System

When you set your clock back to Eastern Standard Time on November 7, it is also a good time to reset your irrigation system. It should run only one day a week, from November until March, to be in compliance with the conservation ordinance for landscape irrigation. Remember: water only when needed, not between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, and irrigate no more than one hour per zone. Automatic lawn sprinkler systems must have a functioning rain sensor device.

Water Lawns Once a Week during Eastern Standard Time (First Sunday in November until the second Sunday in March)

For more information, call 407.877.5193.
